Armenian Film Series

Organized by the MITM curatorial team in collaboration with Jennifer Matotek (Dunlop Art Gallery), Vahram Akimyan (ACCEA: Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art, Yerevan), Hrach Vardanyan (Gallery 25, Berlin Art Hotel, Gyumri) and Mkrtich Tonoyan (ACOSS: Armenian Art Center of Social Studies,) the film series will bring selected film works of Atom Egoyan into context with important historical and contemporary feature and experimental filmmakers concerned with questions of Armenian history, the diaspora, and local/translocal identities.  Filmmakers and works may include Elia Kazan (America, America, 1963); Sergei Parajanov (Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, 1964; The Colour of Pomegranates, 1968; The Legend of Suram Fortress, 1984); Artavazd Peleshian (Four Seasons, 1975); and various filmmakers associated with ACCEA.
